One Peace at a Time is produced by Turk Pipkin—who is not only at home in documentary film production, but in the worlds of television, Hollywood movies, and books. The film is a follow-up to his acclaimed Nobelity documentary, which was described by Esquire magazine as, “Nine ways to save the world.”
The Nobelity film came after one of Pipkin’s young daughters asked about all the terrible problems facing the world and its people. To find answers, Pipkin talked to and filmed some of the world’s great thinkers. The film’s success inspired the establishment of Pipkins non-profit Nobelity Project.
In shooting One Peace at a Time, the Texas filmmaker traveled five continents over a two-year span, discussing some of the world’s most pressing problems and how to find ways to solve them. Pipkin’s primary question to all respondents: Can we provide basic rights—water, nutrition, education, health care and a sustainable and peaceful environment—to every child on earth
His interviewees included Nobel laureates Muhammad Yunus and Steven Chu, now President Obama’s Secretary of Energy; Dr. Helene Gayle, chief executive officer of CARE, as well as the legendary Willie Nelson and many others.
He also filmed leaders of the international Architecture for Humanity’s global design challenge for communities-at-need in the Himalayas, the Amazon and Nairobi

“People are hungry to play a part in creating a better world,” said Pipkin. “I hope this film will inspire large numbers of people to accomplish great things in the world and in their own lives.”
After appearing as a recurring character in HBO’s wildly popular The Sopranos, Pipkin told an interviewer: “You write 10 good books, and appear in hundreds of hours of film and television and then you play one born-again, narcoleptic boyfriend on The Sopranos—and who do you think people are going to remember?”
Besides The Sopranos, Turk has appeared in such films as The Alamo, Friday Night Lights, How to Eat Fried Worms, Scanner Darkly and Idiocracy.
His books include When Angels Sing, The Old Man and the Tee, Fast Greens, and seven other books, including The Tao of Willie.
