Awaits TRACS—Again
By Monty Brown
President, Travel Adventure Cinema Society
It’s time to think about previewing your film(s) at this year’s Travel Adventure Cinema Society (TRACS) convention. Perhaps you have a trailer for a finished project; perhaps you’re on location, dreaming of showcasing your summer’s work; or, perhaps you’ve previewed it before and you’d like to re-preview. Well, September’s just four months away.
The convention is set for Chicago from the 12th to 14th of September, 2010. The venue, by popular demand, is the same as last year.
We’re concentrating a bit more on socializing this year, so TRACS will be sponsoring a Wine-and-Cheese gathering, at the Seneca Hotel on Sunday evening, Sept 12, between 6 and 8 p.m. And following Monday’s previews (perhaps 7 p.m.) there will be a film producers dinner hosted by Mr. Al Nader/Questar.
All day Monday, Sept. 13, will be reserved for film previews at the Museum of Contemporary Art, not far from the hotel.
Rules and costs for previewing are pretty much the same as last year. If you attend the convention—which means you are a dues-paying member of TRACS and you have arranged to be in Chicago—you don’t have to pay to show previews. If you are a TRACS member and you’re mailing or sending in your preview, it’ll cost $40 to have it shown. If you want to show more than one preview, or if you are not a member of TRACS but would like to be involved in the whole process, please inquire: Kathie Veach at TRACS—1-877-279-7604 or me (Monty) at 318-773-2213.
Please get in touch with me or Kathie about arrangements for the convention and/or showing of previews. We always like to hear from new travel filmmakers, as well as returning travelers and filmmakers. If you haven’t shown previews for a couple of years, we welcome you back.

Preview Applications, Guidelines
TRACS Executive Secretary Kathie Veachs adds:
The membership decided to go back to Chicago because of the wonderful facilities, ease of transportation, and great location. We hope you will be able to join us for this fantastic opportunity.
Film artists: The Film Preview applications and guidelines will follow in a separate e-mail. Please make your hotel reservations promptly, especially if you are coming in early or staying later. Since we have to guarantee 80% of the rooms that are reserved, not a lot of rooms are saved for us.
See you in the Windy City.
