Filmmaker Chases 'Wavy' and Gorals

In the mid-1980s I was invited one day to look at some footage that fellow filmmaker Norm Wakeman had shot on Killer Whales. He was doing a film on The Inside Passage.

I noted that one of the bulls had a distinctly wavy trailing edge on his dorsal fin.Norm told me that the biologists referred to him as "Wavy."

Still Travelin' in the Summertime

Even when they're not producing new films on some exotic location, Prednisone natural, veteran filmmakers can't seem to stay home in the summer.

Producers Fran and Brooke Reidelberger and retired Producer-Presenter Ken Armstrong (left to right above) got together for a brief visit in Manistee, Michigan last June. Armstrong-who, along with his late wife Bettine, operated the Golden Gate Geographic Society shows until the successful California series closed last year-was aboard the Grande Mariner cruise ship on a 14-day cruise of the Great Lakes and Erie Canal when the ship stopped in Manistee.

The Reidelbergers, taking a summer off after 30 consecutive years of filming abroad, drove two hours from their home in Grayling, Michigan, for a surprise visit with Ken.

We did what traveloguers always do when they get together. We gabbed about everyone and everything in the business and re-told lies about our own magnificent accomplishments. Before you know it, Ken was waving goodbye as the Grande Mariner headed for Mackinac Island and points east , and we drove back home with more good stories for future meetings and itching to start our next film project.

The Reidelbergers will be shooting a new travel film show in Mexico this winter. Armstrong, as always, has an ambitious travel schedule, including a safari to Namibia.
