Our adventure begins in Rome—the Vatican, the Coliseum, the fountains, a gelato treat, then on to Assisi. Florence is next. The bells of Santa Croce, the Golden Doors and Michelangelo’s David in the Academy of Fine Arts. Later, we pause in Pisa to look at the tower which started leaning in 1350. Fran and Brooke Reidelberger tell us their new travel film, Colorful Mexico, is finished and will join the TAC circuit in September.

Colorful. You bet. Included in the film are golden beaches, silver cities and the Copper Canyon.

Their first show—in their own backyard—is at Roscommon, MI., Sept. 16.

Our Kodachrome Moments

Stan Walsh Suggests Relaxing TRACS Showcase Rules

Stan Walsh, the TRACS Filmmakers Chairman,on his way to Italy, sent me this message:

While on location in Italy—filming Venice and the Italian Lakes—I expect I will miss a TRACS Board conference call or two. I have suggested to Steve McCurdy that he assume the Filmmaker's Chairmanship from here on out.

I will, of course, assist him and participate in the convention.  I agree that we should invite Program Directors or other programming folks throughout the Midwest to attend the Chicago gathering free of any charge.

In that regard wouldn't it be nice if the MCA (museum) folks would help us put our best foot forward by joining us in holding a "travel film festival" in their large auditorium without additional charge to us.

We are told performing arts folks are shopping for bargain "acts.” This is a window of opportunity for us to "sell ourselves" as quality events priced to meet their budget requirements. We can only do this if our Chicago venue is quality.

I also suggest, that our showcase footage rule should be relaxed to allow either a continuous length from the program or an edited "trailer" which would display samples of the entire program content.

Meanwhile, time out from filming my newest—Venice and the Italian Lake—while I have a dish of delicious gelato.
